The Nigerian Senate has unsealed the 205 office of the embattled Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central.

This may signal the end of the crisis between the Kogi lawmaker and the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio.

On Tuesday, the Sergeant at Arms of the National Assembly, along with combined personnel of security organisations unsealed Akpoti-Uduaghan’s office, a report by Vanguard said.

With this development, the National Assembly has now granted the suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan access to her office and the National Assembly premises.

With her office now unsealed, Akpoti-Uduaghan can access the National Assembly premises, potentially paving the way for her to resume her legislative duties.

The reopening of Akpoti-Uduaghan’s office is part of efforts to welcome her back to the chamber upon resumption on 7th October, 2025, a source told Vanguard.

The Senate made the decision on Monday at its leadership meeting.

Recall that the Kogi lawmaker was suspended for six months over alleged misconduct and refusal to comply with the chamber’s sitting arrangement during the plenary session on 20 February.

Initially, the upper chamber said that if Akpoti-Uduaghan submits a written apology, the leadership of the chamber may consider lifting the suspension before the six-month period expires.

Senate President Akpabio announced the suspension of Akpoti-Uduaghan after it was supported by a majority of senators during the plenary.

The controversy began when Akpoti-Uduaghan refused to occupy her new seat because it was done without her consent and she believes the action violated her privileges.
