The Bauchi State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Caretaker Committee has issued a statement denying claims by Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed that he is a member of the party.

In a press release signed on Wednesday by Hon Jungodu Haruna Mohammed, Chairman of the Bauchi State PDP Caretaker Committee, the party clarified that Governor Bala’s claim is misleading and contrary to the party’s position.

The PDP urged Governor Bala to demonstrate genuine commitment to reconciliation with critical stakeholders, particularly FCT Minister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, if he desires to remain within the PDP.

According to the statement, Governor Bala, along with Governors Seyi Makinde and Dauda Lawal, was formally expelled from the party following the 103rd and 104th Resolutions of the National Executive Committee (NEC) for actions deemed inconsistent with the party’s constitution.

The party emphasised that Governor Bala’s public declarations cannot override the established position of the party.

The statement quoted, “The Governor’s repeated public posturing cannot override the established position of the Party. They cannot be set aside by public declarations, media statements or informal engagements.”

The statement also expressed concern over the governor’s focus on party politics amidst pressing governance issues in Bauchi State, particularly the rising insecurity in his local government area.

The PDP advised members and stakeholders to treat Governor Bala’s statement with caution and continue supporting the party’s caretaker committee.
