Obi Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, a prominent businessman and socialite, has been appointed as the South-East Coordinator of the City Boy Movement.
The appointment was made by Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, and conveyed through an official letter.
Iyiegbu announced this on his official Instagram page on Tuesday, stating that Seyi Tinubu visited him at home on Monday night to personally present the appointment certificate.
The Anambra-born entrepreneur stated that the visit also allowed both men to discuss various national issues.
“Last night, my long-time friend and brother, Seyi Tinubu, paid me a visit at my home. We held great conversations about everything,” he stated.
Also, Obi Cubana responded to the mixed reactions to his appointment, defending his decision to accept the role. He emphasised that meaningful change can only be achieved through active engagement, rather than isolation.
“I’m fully aware of the varied reactions it has sparked. My belief remains firm: lasting change comes from constructive engagement, not standing apart,” he said.
The nightlife entrepreneur emphasised that his new position would not compromise his commitment to integrity, community development, and responsible leadership.
“I’ve learned that influence is limited from the outside—so yes, here we are! I am a City Boy through and through, inside and out,” he declared.
Iyiegbu described President Tinubu as “a City Boy and a man of commerce,” expressing his determination to ensure inclusivity in discharging his duties.
“All of us need all of us in order to achieve our national aspirations, and I am committed to carrying every Nigerian along in all that I do,” he added.
The socialite called for respect for differing opinions while urging Nigerians to focus on creating tangible value for national development.
“Let’s respect differing views, keep conversations vibrant, and stay focused on building real value. The moment is now—we move!” he stated.
He thanked his supporters for their goodwill and pledged to work towards a more inclusive future.
