Activist and politician, Omoyele Sowore, and other persons arrested during the #FreeeNnamdiKanuNow protest in Abuja have been released from the Kuje Prison.
The development was made known by Sowore, in a terse post he made via his X account on Monday.
The activist wrote, “HAPPENING NOW: Leaving Kuje Prison in Abuja after being detained there illegally for four days by @officialABAT illegal IGP, Kayode Egbetokun. #FreeNnamdiKanuNow.”
A video sighted by NEWSTELLER, showed the moment Sowore and other detainees were leaving the court premises singing an aluta song.
Barrister Deji Adeyanju, a human right activist, was also sighted in the video.
Nnamdi Kanu’s brother, Prince Emmanuel and one of the IPOB leader’s lawyers, Aloy Ejimakor, were among those who regained their freedom.
Sowore was arrested by police on Thursday shortly after leaving the premises of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
The activist was arrested for leading the #FreeNnamdiKanu protest.
The court had last Tuesday remanded Kanu’s brother, Ejimakor and 11 others for “inciting public disturbance” during the protest.
