Stop appearing naked, Remi Tinubu advises girls

The First Lady, Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu, has emphasised the importance of mentorship that prioritises the inculcation of virtues such as humility, respect for cultural heritage, and strong moral principles.

She offered these remarks during an interfaith Iftar and Lent breaking of fast event, hosted at her residence on Thursday, which brought together Muslim and Christian women in a spirit of unity and fellowship.

“Nakedness is not acceptable in our culture. Beauty should be accompanied by decency,” she said.

The former senator exhorted the younger generation to take pride in their cultural heritage and refrain from emulating foreign fashion trends that compromise modesty and promote the exposure of their bodies.

‎ She further implored parents to take an active role in mentoring the younger generation, imparting values and principles that promote virtuous living, modest attire, and responsible behaviour, and to consider sponsoring at least one mentee through their education, thereby investing in the future of the nation.

‎”Help them even if it’s to give a scholarship, teach them leadership, teach them how to be of good behaviour. Teach them how to dress well because you can see that our young people like (to) open their bodies.

‎”Teach them how to cover up because being naked is not beauty. I can only pray that God will answer all your petitions,” said Ms Tinubu.

‎She urged Nigerians to use the Ramadan and Lent periods for spiritual reflection, pray for the nation’s peace and prosperity, and foster unity across different faiths.
