Suspected assassins kill UNIMED Registrar six months after appointment

The Registrar of the University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo State, Ezekiel Adeniran has been killed by suspected assassins.

The development is a result of the investigation of the Ondo State Police Command, which was made public by Olayinka Ayanlade, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state.

According to Ayanlade in a statement on Friday, “The man died in the early hours of yesterday (Thursday). I can confirm to you that this was reported at the Fanibi Division. I can confirm to you that the man was killed.

“From the information I have at my disposal, two men came out of the bush and they forced a substance into another person’s mouth. But I can’t confirm to you where it actually happened, but our area of interest is to unravel who is responsible for his death.

“We are doing everything possible to unravel the lies surrounding this case. I mean, we are after those responsible for this case.”

The PPRO appealed to anyone with information on the assailants to approach the police. He assured that such information would be treated with confidentiality.

The lifeless body of the 41-year-old, who was appointed registrar in January 2025, was discovered in his residence in Akure, the state capital in the early hours of Thursday.
