The All Progressives Congress (APC) has welcomed a former Benue State Governor, Senator Gabriel Suswam, along with other notable figures into its fold

Suswam, on Friday, was joined by Dr. Paul Orhii, the former Director-General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), and Professor David Iornem, a former Senator to decamp to the ruling party

Other notable figures who joined the APC include Hon. Ojema Ojotu, a serving House of Representatives member for Agatu/Apa Federal Constituency.

The defection marks a significant shift in Suswam’s political career, given his long-standing affiliation with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) since his political career began in 1999.

Banners and signposts announcing their defection and a pre-decamping dinner flooded major streets and roads in Makurdi, the Benue State capital.

The move is seen as a boost to the APC’s strength in the state, coming ahead of future elections.

Suswam’s decision to leave the PDP has been attributed to internal crises within the party.

The APC’s gain is seen as a significant loss for the PDP in Benue State, and the party is expected to regroup and strategize ahead of future elections.
