Turkey has condemned the terrorist attack in Nigeria’s Kwara State, expressing deep sadness over the loss of lives and pledging continued support for Nigeria’s fight against terrorism.
In a statement issued on Thursday by its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Turkish government described the attack as heinous and extended condolences to the families of those killed, as well as to the government and people of Nigeria.
It also reaffirmed Turkey’s commitment to standing with Nigeria in efforts to combat terrorism and enhance security across the country.
“We strongly condemn this heinous attack and extend our condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and to the people of Nigeria.
“Türkiye will continue to support Nigeria in its fight against terrorism,” the statement read.
On Tuesday, attackers struck two communities in Kwara shortly after 5pm, arriving on motorcycles and surrounding the villages before opening fire sporadically from different directions.
The attack left more than 75 residents dead, forcing the rest of the survivors to flee for their lives and abandon the community.
