Ungrateful people I gave cars, bicycles should return them – Portable

Popular Nigerian musician, Habeeb Okikiola, known otherwise as Portable, has threatened to reclaim gifts he gave to people, including cars and motorcycles, citing ingratitude.

He made the statement in a viral video on his Facebook page while paying homage to the gods at an open shrine.

Portable claimed he has been maligned and called a thief, but asserted he is a star. He prayed for blessings for those who love and support him, while warning those who are ungrateful to return his gifts.

The musician’s outburst is coming after a series of controversies surrounding his philanthropic gestures. He had previously gifted cars and other items to various individuals, only to feel betrayed by their alleged ingratitude.

Portable expressed disappointment with some individuals who have been spreading falsehoods about him, praying that they face consequences. He maintained he is a blessed child, despite being labelled wayward by a king he had gifted.

In his address at the shrine, Portable said, “All the people who love me, who give me money, help them, bless them. This is the money for prayer. It shall not be well with those who don’t love me.”

He continued, “All of you that I gave cars, motorcycles and houses but you’re ungrateful, return them, it is time. God said if he gives you something and you’re ungrateful return it so I can give another person. You don’t deserve it.”

Portable specifically mentioned a king he had gifted a car, alleging that the monarch’s subjects destroyed a market he had renovated. He demanded the car’s return, stating that he had only lent it to the king.

“I dashed a king a car, they destroyed a market. Are they supposed to? A market that has been operating for over 20 years.

“I renovated the market, they scattered the market but the king couldn’t control his subjects.

“The king should return my car. The owner of the car wants it back, they said I sold it. I merely borrowed the king.

“The king said I’m a wayward child, but I know I’m a blessed child,” he said.

In September 2024, Portable presented a white Range Rover to the King of Oke Osa, Waliu Oduntan.

The announcement came through Portable’s Instagram page, revealing his love for cultural heritage.

The controversial singer said, “On Friday, we want to do Isese and I want to give the King of Oke Osa a Range Rover. Ikateko gave me the car in Ikorodu for me to use, and now I want to give the king, Waliu Oduntan, this Range Rover.

“It has been written that Portable gave out the Range Rover to Waliu Oduntan, the King of Oke Osa. The king likes to wear white, so I’m also giving him a white car.

“I was gifted the car and I have now gifted it to someone else, not that I don’t value it but I have used it very well, and the car opened up ways for more cars for me.”
