Unruly Ibom Air passenger to remain in Kirikiri till October 6

Comfort Emmanson, the passenger accused of assaulting airline officials aboard an Ibom Air flight from Uyo to Lagos, will remain in Kirikiri Correctional Centre in Lagos till October 6, 2025.

This was contained in the ruling of the Magistrate Court 17, Ogba, where the suspect was arraigned on Monday.

Recall that Emmanson was earlier handed over to the police by the Lagos airport security after her violent attacks on members of staff of the airline and airport officials.

Subsequently, Emmanson was charged to court where Magistrate O. O. Salami remanded her in prison.

A copy of the ruling showed that the defendant, aged 26, will remain in remand till October 6.

Emmanson was dragged to court in a 5-count of “shouting on top of your voice, abusing and assaulting the fight erew and refusing to disembark from the aircraft after landing and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 4 (1) (a) and punishable under section 4(2) of Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) bye law 2005.”

In count 2, the defendant allegedly “assaulted one Juliana Edward ‘f by slapping and hitting her cheeks with your right hand and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 170 (I) (a) (b) and punishable under section 172 of the criminal law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

Also, Emmanson was accused of “assaulting one Jokpame Sagun “P by hitting her face with your slippers and thereby committed an offense contrary to section 170 (I) (a) (b) and punishable under section 172 of the criminal law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015,” in count 3.

Counts 4 and 5 accused the defendant of “willfully damaging the aircraft divider cotton valued two thousand five hundred U.S. dollars ($2,500)” and “willfully damaging one braided wig by dragging and tearing the wig valued one hundred and ten thousand naira (#110,000), belonging to Juliana Comfort” respectively.
