The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has urged residents, traders, and transport operators along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway to use designated Private Sector Participant operators for waste disposal as cleaning and evacuation operations begin.

The Lagos State Government announced this via its official social media platforms on Monday.

LAWMA’s Managing Director, Muyiwa Gbadegesin, said the intervention was part of a broader drive for compliance and environmental sustainability during a monitoring exercise at waste blackspots on Saturday.

He said, “LAWMA has commenced bulk waste evacuation at Alaba Rago along the Lagos–Badagry Expressway, deploying heavy-duty carriers, loaders and support teams to clear illegal dump sites.

“Residents, traders, and transport operators are advised to dispose of waste only through assigned PSP operators and comply strictly with environmental regulations.”

The monitoring and cleanup covered key areas including Orile, Doyin, Alaba Rago, Agric, Barracks Iyana-Iba, and Agbara.

The exercise, he said, would extend to other waste blackspots along the corridor.

Recall that LAWMA began bulk waste evacuation along the Lagos–Badagry Expressway, starting with a clean-up at Alaba Rago.
