Why you should call your aged parents daily – Reno Omokri

Social commentator and former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has spoken about the importance of communicating with one’s aged parents daily.

In a post he made on his X account, Omokri stressed the need to stay in constant contact with and take care of any parent over 80 years old.

He maintained that it does not matter if the parents were good to the child or not, saying it all parents are vessels through which their children were birthed.

He also said by taking care of your parents, you’re teaching your children how to tend to you when you become old.

“If your father or mother is over 80, call them daily. Spoil them regularly. And if you live in the same country, visit them quarterly. If it is in the same city, you can make it weekly. But if you live abroad, you can do it annually. When you speak with them, make sure their minds are functioning optimally. And if not, do something about it.

“This applies, whether or not you think they were good parents. You are honouring them for being the vessels through which God gave you life. Beyond that, you are teaching your children how to treat you, should God be so kind as to let you experience old age.

“Once your parents are in their eighties, they are on their last leg. And now is the time to show them love. Not that you will ignore them and serenade your husband or wife and children, then when they die, you will renovate their house, kill ten cows and feel good for giving them a befitting burial.”
