A tense standoff unfolded in Abuja as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, clashed with soldiers and FCT officials over land issues on Tuesday.

In a now-viral video, the confrontation began when soldiers allegedly attempted to take over a piece of land in the federal capital, sparking a heated argument between the military personnel and FCT officials.

The situation escalated when Minister Wike intervened, directing that the soldiers should be stopped from taking over the land.

Details of the incident are still emerging, but sources close to the matter indicate that the dispute centers on ownership and allocation of land in the Abuja area.

In the video, the FCT minister was heard asking one of the soldiers who told him they were “following orders” to “shut up”. The minister further said the soldier was an idiot, to which he responded, “I’m not an idiot, sir” multiple times.

Wike further said, “You would have killed everybody here” but the soldier replied, “We won’t kill anybody.”
