Adeleke resigns from PDP

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), effective immediately.

The resignation, contained in a letter dated November 4, 2025, and addressed to the Chairman of the PDP in Sagba/Abogunde Ward 2, Ede, Osun State, cites the ongoing national leadership crisis within the party as the reason for his decision.

In the letter, Governor Adeleke expressed gratitude to the PDP for the opportunities afforded him, including his elections as Senator representing Osun West and as Governor of Osun State under the party’s platform.

The letter reads, “Due to the current crisis of the national leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), I hereby resign my Membership of the People’s Democratic Party with immediate effect.

“I thank the People’s Democratic Party for the opportunities given to me for my elections as a Senator (Represented Osun West) and as Governor of Osun State under the People’s Democratic Party.”

The letter was acknowledged by the party chairman on the same day it was written.

The resignation comes amid intense internal strife within the PDP, which has led to the postponement of crucial party activities, including the Osun State governorship primaries initially scheduled for December 2, 2025.

The development marks a significant shift in Osun State’s political landscape, with Governor Adeleke’s future political plans uncertain.

The PDP is yet to issue an official response to the resignation.
