The Management and Staff of the National Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party on Monday morning locked up offices and deserted the party secretariat in protest of an attempt by Senator Samuel Anyanwu to force his way into the office of the National Secretary at the party secretariat in Abuja.
Anyanwu was said to have been accompanied by some unknown faces within the party secretariat.
The party staff who, in a briefing last month, pledged loyalty to the decision of the National Working Committee directing the Deputy Secretary, Setonji Koshodeo to act as the National Secretary, collectively resisted Anyanwu’s attempt to access the office of the National Secretary.
The party workers, who vowed not to acknowledge or work with Anyanwu as National Secretary, locked up their offices and left the party secretariat in protest, leaving Anyanwu stranded and embarrassed.
Sources at the secretariat said Anyanwu was later advised by some of his aides to leave the party secretariat which he did, apparently to avoid further embarrassment.
