The General Manager of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Olalekan Bakare-Oki, has expressed profound appreciation to motorists and residents for their patience and understanding amidst traffic diversions caused by the ongoing Ogudu-Ifako Bridge rehabilitation.

The agency’s Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, Adebayo Taofiq, made this known in a statement on Wednesday.

According to the statement, during an inspection visit to Ifako, Bakare-Oki addressed concerns about the project, reassuring the public that the rehabilitation is being executed to international standards and will be completed within the stipulated timeframe.

The General Manager extolled Lagosians for their cooperation and adjustments to their daily routines, stressing that such civic discipline and sacrifice epitomise the resilience, fortitude, and collective spirit of the State’s populace.

“I deeply empathise with our people over the inconveniences engendered by this diversionary arrangement. Nonetheless, this rehabilitation remains an indispensable undertaking of government imperative to safeguard lives, fortify the structural integrity of the bridge, and elevate the commuting experience along this vital transportation artery,” the LASTMA boss stated.

He lauded the commitment of its personnel manning diversionary zones and strategic corridors, noting that no adverse complaints had been recorded against their conduct.

He reiterated the authority’s determination to ensure uninterrupted traffic management within the impacted axis.

Bakare-Oki urged road users to remain resolute in their adherence to traffic directives, perceiving temporary discomfort as an investment toward a more enduring, resilient, and modernised transport infrastructure for Lagos.

He reminded the public of LASTMA’s toll-free hotline (080000527862) for prompt reporting of traffic obstructions, emergencies, accidents, or other exigencies.
