By-election: Obi changing parties out of desperation – Julius Abure

The Julius Abure-led faction of the Labour Party (LP) has accused the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi of jumping from one political party to the other because of his desperation to become Nigeria’s president.

In a statement he signed on Friday, Abure, who referred to Obi as an ‘Uber’ politician, slammed the former Anambra governor, saying that he is now reputed to have elevated subterfuge in the game of politics and had of late been crying wolf where there was none.

He alleged that Obi’s desperation to govern the country has booked a place for him in the Guinness Book of Records as a person affiliated to many political parties at the same time.

“It is unfortunate that Obi has turned himself into an irony and a paradox in the Nigerian political space.

“He has turned himself into an ‘Uber’ politician, not willing to take a position and stand by his decision,” the statement read partly.

Abure said this in response to Obi’s directives ahead of the August 16 by-elections across the country.

Obi had earlier asked his supporters to back the candidates of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) during the forthcoming by-elections across some states in the country.
