A suspected vandal has been killed by an electric current in Ebonyi State while attempting to vandalise a transmission tower.

This was made known by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), which stated that the incident happened along the Nkalagu-Abakaliki 132 Volt Line on July 19.

In a statement by Ndidi Mbah, General Manager, Public Affairs, TCN on Friday, the body of the electrocuted vandal hanging on the tower has since been brought down.

Mbah reiterated the stand of TCN concerning such acts, stressing that tampering with transmission infrastructure is highly dangerous.

She emphasised that transmission infrastructure carries high voltages critical to national development and poses significant risks to health and safety.

She said, “TCN urges the public to protect electricity infrastructure within their vicinity and report any suspicious activity around power installations to security operatives or any of its offices nationwide.”
