Shiddi Usman, a former member of the House of Representatives for Wukari/Ibi Federal Constituency has dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The ex-Taraba lawmaker, giving his reason, noted that he has lost confidence in the party’s internal democracy and claimed that the APC has deviated from its founding ideals.

In a telephone interview with the Tribune, the former lawmaker explained that his decision to leave the APC was the product of deep reflection.

He said, “After deep thought and careful reflection, I resigned as a member of the APC. Since joining the APC in 2020, I have served with unwavering loyalty and commitment.

“Over time, I have come to terms with a difficult truth: there is a growing disconnect between my convictions, the realities I observe, and the actual needs of the people I represent.”

Shiddi, a strong contender for the Taraba South Senatorial seat in the last elections, said he enjoyed overwhelming support across the zone but was unjustly denied the party’s ticket due to internal wrangling.
