How Tim Godfrey, Waje influenced my acting career, Michael Ejiofor narrates

Nollywood actor, Michael Ejiofor, has shared how singers, Tim Godfrey and Waje, influenced his acting career.

In an interview he granted Punch, Ejiofor narrated how he fell in love with acting when Godfrey invited him to be part of a theatre production in 2016.

He said, “I have always been creative. I started singing around the age of 14 or 15, and because of that, I found myself in stage musicals where acting came into play. I realised I enjoyed the acting as much as the singing.

“In 2016, I went through one of the toughest years of my life—I lost my job, suffered heartbreak, and my mother was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease and needed a transplant. I sank into depression. At that point, my good friend and gospel artiste, Tim Godfrey, invited me to be part of his theatre production, ‘Iwuro’, where Waje was the lead. He said, “You’ll sing well, that’s what matters.” But as I performed, I found myself falling in love with the acting.

“The response was overwhelming. I even became the understudy for the lead character. Waje told me, ‘Michael, you can act. Try it.’ I auditioned for ‘Tinsel’, got the role, and from there, I landed every audition I went for. That’s how it all began.”
