The Lagos State Government on Friday announced the shutdown of a plaza over the pollution of a public drainage system in the Oregun area of the state.
The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, made the announcement in a post he made on X (formerly known as Twitter).
Wahab noted that the perpetrators ignored the overfilled sewage which flows into the drains, despite the complaints from other residents.
The commissioner wrote, “The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) @lswmomedia earlier today sealed-off Irorun Plaza on Kudirat Abiola Way, Oregun in Ikeja Local Government Area for polluting the environment with raw sewage discharged into the public drainage system.
“The perpetrators deliberately ignored the overfilled septic tank and allowed the sewage to continue to flow freely into the drains despite public outcry.”
