Methodist Church commends Ogun waste agency on clean environment

Methodist Church Nigeria, Egba Diocese, has lauded the Ogun State Waste Management Authority for improved and effective waste management, which has kept the state clean.

The Bishop of the diocese and Archbishop of RIYE, Most Reverend Dr Adegbemi Adewale, gave the commendation while delivering his ‘State of the Nation and that of Ogun State Address’ at the end of the 43rd Annual Synod of the church with the theme: ‘He will Arise Again’, at the Methodist Church Nigeria, Asero Model Assembly, Abeokuta.

Adewale said the efforts of the agency, especially its operational units that keep the state clean, were worthy of commendation and urged the staff and that management of the OGWAMA and that of the environment family not to rest on their laurels.

To reciprocate the efforts of OGWAMA, Adewale urged residents of the state to containerize their wastes and stop indiscriminate dumping of waste on roadsides, drainage channels and public places for a more cleaner, healthier and safer environment

For traders in various markets across the state, the cleric urged them to clean their environment regularly and dispose waste properly in accordance with standard regulations set by the agency.

He also used the opportunity to thank the state government for hosting the 22nd edition of the National Sports Festival, adding that as the Chairman of the Ogun State Paralympics Tennis Association, he urged residents of the state to show the best of their hospitality to thousands of athletes, officials, visitors and tourists who will converge on the state for the games.

Adewale advised the state government to adequately maintain the modern facilities provided for the festival for the overall future development of sports in the Gateway State.
