The Nigeria Police Force has successfully repatriated Dai Qisheng, a notorious Chinese fugitive, to the People’s Republic of China.
Qisheng, a gang leader wanted for orchestrating violent organised crimes in Guizhou Province, was arrested in Abuja on August 8, 2025, after fleeing China in 2024.
According to the Force spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi, in a statement on Sunday, the fugitive was tracked and apprehended by operatives of the INTERPOL National Central Bureau Abuja. Qisheng was subsequently repatriated to Beijing on August 15, 2025, under the framework of police-to-police cooperation coordinated by INTERPOL.
The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, described the successful arrest and extradition as “a strong statement that Nigeria will not serve as a hiding place for international fugitives.” He emphasised that the operation demonstrates the strength of international partnerships in addressing global crime networks.
Egbetokun reassured that the Nigeria Police Force is committed to improving international alliances and leveraging intelligence-sharing to ensure that borders do not become barriers to justice.
“The arrest and repatriation of Dai Qisheng is a clear message to criminals worldwide that the Federal Republic of Nigeria will not be a hiding place for fugitives,” he said.
The repatriation of Qisheng underscores the Nigeria Police Force’s resolve to combat transnational organised crime and its commitment to collaborating with international partners to bring fugitives to justice, the statement concluded.
