Obstruct, attack our officials, face prosecution, LASPA warns Lagos residents

The Lagos State Parking Authority has said that it will not hesitate to invoke the full wrath of the law on any one or group of individuals trying to obstruct it operations.

‎It noted with displeasure the unwarranted attack on its officials during a routine exercise to verify parking compliance by some staff members and security personnel of Better Mart on Badore Road, off Addo Road, Ajah, and at Ashley mall in Epe.

‎Describing the attacks as illegal and unacceptable, it stressed that it would stop at nothing to ensure that the individuals and organisations responsible for the attacks on its officers were brought to justice.

‎The agency, in a statement by its Public Affairs Officer, Divine Dunkwu, emphasized that it was a serious offence to obstruct the activities of government officials on duty, stressing that it was even a greater offence to attack and beat up state officials carrying out their statutory assignments.

‎According to the agency, the incident represents a serious breach of protocol and an unlawful obstruction of government officials in the execution of their duties.

“‎LASPA strongly condemns any form of violence or intimidation directed at its personnel and reaffirms its commitment to lawful enforcement and public safety,” the statement added.

‎It  further noted that the LASPA would not hesitate to prosecute any one or group of people responsible for the attacks on its officials during their statutory assignments.

“‎LASPA is resolute in the actualisation of its mandate at ensuring strict compliance to the state traffic regulations and would not be intimidated by anyone,” Dunkwu added.
