A fatal road accident occurred on the Idi-Iroko inward Ogolonto axis of Ikorodu Road, Lagos, claiming one life and leaving two others severely injured.
The accident involved a commercial Mazda bus and a truck, a statement by Adebayo Taofiq, the Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) on Tuesday.
According to the agency, the collision occurred when the Mazda bus recklessly vied for right of passage, flinging one of its passenger seated at the doorway out from the vehicle and tragically crushed beneath the rear tyres of the truck, leading to instant fatality.
The statement added that two other passengers (a male and a female) were extricated with severe injuries by valiant LASTMA operatives and were immediately conveyed by the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) to the Ikorodu General Hospital for urgent medical intervention.
Furthermore, the statement revealed that “the General Manager of LASTMA, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, extends his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and earnestly enjoin all motorists to embrace circumspection, restraint, and civic duty when plying the highways, especially along traffic-congested arteries such as the Ikorodu corridor.
