Reno Omokri slams Rotimi Amaechi over recent outbursts

Social commentator and former presidential aide, Reno Omokri has blasted former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, over his recent declarations.

Recall that Amaechi, during an X space tagged ‘Weekend Politics’ over the weekend, made some statements which did not sit well with some Nigerians, especially those in the camp of President Bola Tinubu.

Some of the statements of Amaechi include changing the Nigerian constitution, ending corruption in a month of being sworn in, and alleging that influential Nigerians visit the Central Bank of Nigeria (CNN), to steal money.

The former Rivers State governor also claimed that he had never rigged an election, while boasting that he knows the strengths and weaknesses of President Tinubu and he is capable of defeating him.

Omokri, who has recently been sympathetic to the Tinubu-led government, knocked Amaechi for his utterances.

The former presidential aide likened the former minister to the “Treacherous Efemini in ‘To Kill a Monkey’”, a trending Nigerian movie about betrayal.

Omokri wrote on X on Sunday, “Rotimi Amaechi should not have done that X Space. He just showed that he and Peter Obi should have been traders, not leaders.

“After listening to him, I feel that Peter Odili did a great injustice to the people of Rivers State by promoting his houseboy above his competence.

“My Gosh, it was painful to listen to. He contradicts himself within the space of a few minutes.”

Furthermore, Omokri said, “He was asked questions about the economy, specifically interest rates and inflation. At first, he pretended his phone went mute, but miraculously, after a long, awkward pause, it recovered.

“Then he gave the shortest answer during that encounter, saying he is no finance expert and would seek advice.

“If Amaechi has not already sought advice and the advice indicates that the incumbent government is wrong, why is he fighting the Tinubu administration?

“By that response, he proved that he is against the Tinubu government only because he wants to be President instead of Asiwaju Tinubu.”

He also condemned Amaechi for insulting former President Goodluck Jonathan by saying, “Jonathan is not our brother”.

“And his rationale for that is that he accuses former President Jonathan of not focusing on the South-South.

“The man is so shallow that he does not understand that by saying that, he is telling other zones that if he is elected President (God forbid), he will focus on his zone!,” he added.

The social commentator continued, “The most shameful part of that interaction is that he admits undermining the same President Jonathan he claims is not his brother. Can you imagine how shallow this fellow is?

“You were undermining Jonathan, as a fellow South-Southerner, yet you claim he was not brotherly to you.

“It is now that I know for almost fact that Amaechi’s treachery must have inspired Kemi Adetiba to create the character of Efemini in ‘To Kill a Monkey’.

“While then President Jonathan was trying to protect Amaechi and other minorities from being dominated by majority ethnic groups, the Judas Efemini was the one telling those who wanted to obfuscate him where to look!”
