Actress Blessing Obasi has revealed the action she would take if a producer offered her a role to play nude.
According to the movie star, her value system doesn’t align with acting nude so she would turn down the offer.
Asked if she has ever turned down a role that doesn’t align with her values, she said, “Yes, I have done that a couple of times. I am not going to star in a film that does not honour God. I also don’t subscribe to nudity in films. If I am given a role like that, I will not be upset. I will just find a way to turn it down and let them know it does not align with my value system.”
She commended the movie industry of the country, Nollywood for the growth it has attained over the years.
She, however, called for more funding for the industry, stressing that most filmmakers are scared to invest their money because of the fear of losses.
She said, “We are doing better and people are making a lot more daring movies. Now that people are doing that, I think one major challenge we face is funding. As much as you want to make a film and tell the story well, there is the fear of whether you will make your money back. Before you get the numbers, you will still have to put in a lot of money into promotion.”
She hailed “the great women that put out films every December, such as Funke Akindele, Toyin Abraham, Mercy Aigbe, because it is not easy.
“They spend millions of naira to make those movies. If we get a lot of support and proper grants, that would really help. People have great ideas but execution is key.”
