The Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has charged new recruits into the state Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun Corps, to shun corruption and other conduct that violates the laws.
Adeleke gave the charge at the passing-out parade of the 1,150 recruits, on Friday.
The event took place at the National Youth Service Corps Orientation Camp, Ede, Osun.
The governor urged the new security operatives to demonstrate patriotism and commitment to duty.
“You must be dedicated crime fighters. You must avoid corruption and other conduct that violates the law.
“You are expected to be good ambassadors of the service in your daily operations,” the governor charged.
The governor gave the assurance that the request of the corps for vehicles, motorcycles, and other operational equipment would be looked into.
Adeleke also urged the leadership of the corps to maintain unity of purpose.
” Internally, the leadership must be united to pursue the agency’s mandate.
“Your management practices must be all-inclusive and goal-oriented.
“Externally, the service leadership must ensure close synergy in operational matters with other security agencies.
” Amotekun service must work jointly and closely with the police, the Department of State Service, and other security agencies.
“This is a must, as all agencies have the same goal of crime-free Osun State,” he said.
In his remarks, the Board Chairman of the Amotekun Corps, retired AIG Wale Abbas, said that the new operatives underwent rigorous training.
Abbas said that the training instilled discipline, courage, and selfless service in the new personnel.
Abbas praised the governor for his commitment to grassroots security and community policing.
