Nigerian street singer Terry G has blasted people who accuse him of hijacking the hit song Pass Me Your Love from his colleague and collaborator, AY.Com.
The singer, in a post he made on X (formerly known as Twitter), described his accusers of being ignorant.
In his response to his critics, Terry G asserted that he has every right to perform a song on which he was a featured artist.
The singer claimed that AY.Com’s musical career started dwindling since the critics commenced the campaign against him (Terry G).
“To those saying I stole ‘Pass Me Your Love’ from Ay.com— that’s pure ignorance. So I don’t have the right to perform a song I collaborated on? Your favourite artists do it all the time, but when it’s me, it becomes a problem. Hypocrisy at its finest.
“And no, I didn’t put the song on my album — it was never about ownership, it was about collaboration.
“Some of you ruined AY’s moment with your noise, not me. As for my shine, nobody can block it. You no reach,” the street singer wrote.
Recall that Terry G faced criticism for performing the track, which featured him as a guest artist, at his shows in years past. Critics accused him of appropriating the song from AY.Com by frequently performing it at events.
