Senator Babangida Hussaini Adamu, representing Jigawa North West, has dismissed recent speculation that he is preparing to contest for the governorship seat of Jigawa State in the 2027 elections, clarifying that he is not involved in any such plans.
This clarification was made in a statement signed by Senator Babangida Hussaini Adamu and issued to newsmen in Dutse on Saturday, where he described the claims as baseless and deliberately misleading.
He described the allegations as false, mischievous and deliberately calculated to create division within the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The Senator expressed concern over what he described as a growing trend of unfounded narratives being peddled on radio platforms, allegedly to mislead the public and stir unnecessary political tension.
According to the statement, “These claims are entirely false and are clearly intended to create unnecessary tension, division and mischief within our great party, the APC.”
He stressed that both he and Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, are committed members of the same party, working together respectfully and collaboratively for the state’s progress.
This follow a recent radio comments by one Magaji Dogo that the Senator is planning to contest for the Governorship position in the coming election, also wearing a campaign-style T-shirt bearing the images of both Senator Babangida and Governor Namadi, alongside a cap, in an apparent attempt to give the false impression that the claims originated from the Senator himself
Senator Adamu, however, declared his unwavering loyalty to the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and to the Jigawa State Government under Governor Umar Namadi.
He stressed that his focus remains on supporting the leadership of the party and contributing meaningfully to the continued development of Jigawa State.
Calling on the leadership of the APC to take appropriate measures to address and curtail the spread of misleading narratives capable of undermining party unity and discipline, he urged party members and the general public to disregard the rumours and remain focused on the collective responsibility of strengthening the APC and advancing the socio-economic development of Jigawa State and Nigeria at large.
