International boxer Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital after being involved in a road accident on December 29, 2025, that claimed the lives of two young men, Lateef Ayodele and Cina Gami.

In a statement co-signed on Thursday by Gbenga Omotoso, Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Lagos, and Kayode Akinmade, Special Adviser Information and Strategy, Ogun State, the governments of Lagos and Ogun states expressed their condolences to the families of the deceased.

The statement revealed that Joshua, who was emotional and heavy-hearted over the loss of his friends, was deemed clinical fit to recuperate from home.

He, along with his mother, visited the funeral home in Lagos to pay their final respects to the departed friends, who are scheduled to be repatriated later this evening.

Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun and his Lagos counterpart, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, appreciated the public concern and show of love and affection over the incident.

They also expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support throughout the process.

The governors also commended the team of doctors and medical personnel at Lagoon Hospital Ikoyi for their professionalism and quality care provided to Joshua and those who sustained injuries in the accident.

The statement read, “The governments of Lagos and Ogun states, once again, commiserate with the families of the two young men – Lateef Ayodele and Cina Gami – who tragically and unfortunately lost their lives in the road accident involving Anthony Joshua on the 29th Dec 2025.

“We pray The Almighty grant the repose of their souls whilst granting their families and loved ones the fortitude to bear this very sad and painful loss.”
