Tragedy struck in the Fegge area of Onitsha, Anambra State on Sunday as a trader, identified simply as Iyke, was allegedly murdered by his apprentice.
According to information circulating in a viral video shared by Facebook user OBC Afunwa, the deceased, a businessman at the popular Ogbo Ogwu Market in Onitsha, was killed by 18-year-old Chiemerie from Ebonyi State.
Chiemerie is accused of killing his employer with a pestle in what sources described as a violent attack.
In the video, the netizen claimed that the incident has sent shockwaves through the local trading community.
The motive behind the killing remains unclear at the time of this report. Law enforcement authorities have yet to release an official statement confirming the circumstances surrounding the incident or the status of the suspect.
