Popular Nigerian photographer and biker, Orowole Samuel Kolapo, widely known as Kola Onifoto, has died following a motorcycle accident in the Kara area of Lagos.
The 35-year-old travel enthusiast and brand influencer was involved in the crash on Sunday during what he described as his first solo motorcycle trip outside Lagos.
Kola, who was also an e-hailing driver, recently purchased the ill-fated bike after his Lagos landlady issued him a quit notice, which prompted him to relocate to Otta, Ogun State, despite working in Lagos.
Just hours before the accident, Kola had shared on his official Facebook page that he was heading to Akure on his bike.
“Big shout out to those who have ridden their bikes to every state in this country, to Africa, and across the world, especially women. My eye see wheeen,” he wrote on Sunday, March 1, 2026.
Friends later disclosed online that he had been involved in the accident and was initially rushed to the emergency unit of the Federal Road Safety Corps at 7UP, Ojota.
He was subsequently transferred to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba, where well-wishers continued to pray for his recovery on social media.
Tragically, Kola succumbed to his injuries in the late hours of Sunday, March 1.
There is an outpouring of love on social media as netizens find the death of Kola, who was described as an upright man, unbelievable.
Meanwhile, the Orowale family has confirmed the loss of their son, urging friends and fans of the deceased to allow the family mourn privately.
The family wrote, “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved brother, Kolapo Orowale, popularly known as Kola Onifoto, who lost his life on the ist of March.
“Kolapo was more than a brother he was a pillar of strength, a source of wisdom, and a steady presence in our lives. Known to many as Kola Onifoto, he touched countless hearts with his warmth, kindness, and generosity. His impact will remain with us forever.
“This loss is deeply painful for our family and for all who knew and loved him. We sincerely appreciate the outpouring of love, prayers, and support during this incredibly difficult time.
“We kindly ask that our privacy be respected as we mourn his loss. Burial arrangements will be communicated in due time.”
