Kano gov sacks Head of Service

Governor Abba Yusuf has relieved the Kano State Head of Service, Abdullahi Musa, of his appointment with immediate effect as part of efforts to reposition the state civil service in the state.

The development was announced in a statement issued on Tuesday evening by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

The governor directed Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu Maimota, the Permanent Secretary for Administration and General Services at the Cabinet Office, to serve in an acting capacity pending the appointment of a substantive Head of Service.

Yusuf directed the outgoing HoS to hand over the office affairs to the Ag. Head of Service (Maimota).

“By this announcement, the outgoing Head of Service is directed to hand over the affairs of the office to the Acting Head of Service latest tomorrow, Wednesday, March 11, 2026,” the statement added.

“The decision is part of the present administration’s ongoing efforts to reposition the state civil service for greater efficiency, discipline, and improved service delivery across all government institutions,” the statement said.

Governor Yusuf expressed appreciation for the outgoing Head of Service’s contributions and dedication to the service of Kano State during his tenure.

He added, “We wish him the best in his future endeavours and pray for his continued success in all aspects of life.”
