The Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA) has issued a final notice to parking operators in default of their 2025 parking levies, warning that enforcement measures will be implemented if outstanding payments are not settled promptly.

The development was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by Dunkwu, O. S. Divine, Head, Public Affairs of the agency.

According to the statement, the General Manager, LASPA, Mrs. Adebisi Adelabu, gave the warning during an interaction with the press on the activities of the Parking Authority.

She noted that Demand Notices were issued for y’2025 to all parking operators registered with LASPA earlier in the year, with payment expected within seven (7) days of receipt of the notice, observing that some organizations are yet to comply.

Mrs. Adelabu, emphasised that the parking levy is not a discretionary but a legal requirement enshrined in the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law (LSTSRL 2018), adding that all defaulters of the year 2025 parking levies will be penalized.

She further noted that the funds generated from the parking levies are critical to ensuring a sustainable parking management, maintaining structured parking systems, and improving urban mobility across the state.

“Demand Notices were dispatched to all relevant corporate bodies well in advance. The expectation is clear: payment must be made within seven days of receiving the notice,” Mrs. Adelabu, stated.

Continuing, she said, “Regrettably, some organizations are yet to remit their 2025 parking fees despite this ample notification. We must emphasize that this window for compliance is now closing.”

Mrs. Adelabu warned that LASPA would immediately commence state-wide monitoring and enforcement exercises on the year 2025 parking levies noting that organizations operating parking facilities within their premises or utilizing building setbacks for parking without valid payment receipts will also be classified as defaulters and sanctioned accordingly.

She therefore advised all stakeholders who are yet to pay the year 2025 parking levies or regularize their status to do so without further delay to avoid enforcement and the subsequent penalty.
