Nigerian gospel singer Judith Kanayo-Opara, popularly known as Judikay, has opened up about losing her sixth pregnancy in February 2025, detailing the emotional struggle that followed.
The singer, in a video posted on Instagram, said she was already over three months pregnant when the incident occurred.
She explained that she first noticed cramps while going about her normal activities and initially thought it was something minor.
Shortly after, she began to notice light bleeding, which later became heavier and did not stop.
As the situation worsened, she quickly realised what was happening and was taken to the hospital, where doctors confirmed a miscarriage and carried out a D&C procedure.
After returning home, Judikay said she tried to cope with the pain by allowing herself to grieve, hoping time would ease the burden.
However, she noted that the nights were the most difficult, as she often woke up in deep pain and distress, struggling with emotions she could not fully express.
The singer disclosed that the loss marked the sixth time she had gone through such an experience, making it even harder to bear.
She said, “In February 2025, I experienced a pain that almost crushed me. I was pregnant well over three months. One of these days, I was going about my day when I started to experience cramps. I said, ‘oh, okay, it was one of those things.’ And then trickles of blood, and I said, ‘Okay, spotting.’
“Then I had the urge to use the washroom, and what I thought to be urine was blood. It didn’t stop; it kept on flowing, and I was devastated because I understood what that meant automatically. I had lost this baby that had gone past the three-month mark again, that was the sixth time.”
She added, “In the silence of the night, I would experience a pain that I could not express. I would wake and cry and say, Jesus, where are you?”
Judikay got married to Anselem Opara in November 2020 and welcomed their first child, a son, in March 2022.
