Adamawa man found dead, hanging from tree

The Adamawa State Police Command has launched an investigation into the death of a 46-year-old man, Ahmed Mohammed, whose body was discovered hanging from a tree in Girei Local Government Area.

The incident occurred on Monday at the foothills of Bagale Mountain. Mohammed, a resident of Anguwan Hona, was found under circumstances that remain unclear.

Police spokesperson Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje confirmed the development in a statement, noting that the case has been classified as a sudden and unnatural death.

“The Adamawa State Police Command recorded a case of sudden and unnatural death reported on March 23, 2026, following the discovery of a lifeless body hanging on a tree at the foothills of Bagale Mountain, Girei Local Government Area,” the statement read.

“The victim, identified as Ahmed Mohammed, male, 46, of Anguwan Hona, was taken to Cottage Hospital, Girei, where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor.”

According to the command, investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“Investigation is currently ongoing to unravel the circumstances surrounding the death,” the statement added.

The police also appealed to members of the public to provide any useful information that could aid the investigation, assuring that further updates will be made available as findings emerge.
