The All Progressives Congress (APC) has concluded its 8th national convention in Abuja, reaffirming Nentawe Yilwatda as national chairman and Ajibola Basiru as secretary.
Delegates at the convention, held at Eagle Square, also constituted a new National Working Committee (NWC) through a consensus arrangement endorsed by party stakeholders.
Ben Nwoye emerged as deputy national chairman (south), replacing Emma Eneukwu, following consultations within the party.
Sources indicated that the decision was shaped by zoning considerations and extensive consultations among party leaders, with Peter Mbah playing a key role in securing Nwoye’s emergence.
In his acceptance speech, Yilwatda described his re-election as a call to greater service, pledging to promote unity within the ruling party.
“We are ready to serve, ready to lead, and we are ready to build the party, together with the nation,” he said, adding that the new leadership would not “fail or falter” in delivering on its mandate.
The convention was attended by Bola Tinubu, Kashim Shettima, governors, members of the National Assembly, and other party leaders.
