Operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun, have successfully rescued three nurses who were kidnapped by gunmen at a primary health centre in Akure.

The Corps Commander, Adetunji Adeleye, disclosed this on Saturday at the command’s headquarters, stating that the health workers regained their freedom at about 4:30 a.m.

Adeleye also revealed that another rescue operation led to the release of a 45-year-old man and his 15-year-old son, who had been abducted at Pelebe community along Oda Road in Akure.

According to him, the father and son were taken by kidnappers between 7:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Friday but were freed around 1:00 a.m. after Amotekun operatives engaged the abductors in a fierce confrontation.

“The three health workers earlier abducted have also been rescued at about 4:30 a.m. and are currently receiving treatment at the Amotekun health facility,” he said.

The nurses were reportedly seized when armed men attacked a government-owned primary health centre in the Oke Ijebu area of Akure in the early hours of Saturday.

Eyewitness accounts indicated that the assailants arrived at about 2:00 a.m. in a bus, forced their way into the facility, and took the victims while other staff on duty managed to escape.

The attackers were said to have bundled the abducted workers into their vehicle before fleeing to an undisclosed location.

Adeleye reassured residents that protecting lives and property remains a priority for the state government, urging the public to support security agencies with timely and credible information to strengthen safety efforts across the state.
