The Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, is set to join the African Democratic Congress.

Top sources close to the governor said the final decision will be taken in Abuja on Thursday, April 2

It was gathered that Mohammed actually preferred to join the APC but negotiations were not concluded before he decided to pitch a tent with the ADC.

Bala, who is the chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, was born on October 5, 1958.

He has served as governor of Bauchi State since 2019.

He was the former minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) from 2010 to 2015, and senator representing Bauchi South senatorial district from 2007 to 2010.

Already, he had met with his aides, commissioners, members of the PDP, and the ADC in his state.

It was also gathered that he set up a committee headed by a former minister of information, Prof Jerry Gana, to advise him and members of his party on the preferred party to join after the factionalisation of the PDP.

It was also gathered that Bala told his close allies that Nyesom “Wike wanted to use the PDP in 2031 but I need a platform to use and for my people in 2027” hence his decision to move to the ADC.

Bala and the governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, are the only governors left in the once ruling party, the PDP.

Other governors had defected to the APC, which Bala said he would have preferred but for the breakdown in their negotiation.
