The Nigerian Army has shifted focus to dismantling terrorist logistics networks and tightening internal security operations nationwide, recording a string of coordinated successes across multiple regions within the last 24 hours.
According to an operational update released on Monday, troops operating under Operation Hadin Kai dealt a significant blow to insurgent supply routes in the North-East after intercepting a suspicious shipment of medical materials believed to be destined for terrorist groups.
The seizure took place at a checkpoint in Nguru, Yobe State, where a truck initially cleared for transporting beverages and household goods was flagged for further inspection.
A thorough search uncovered a concealed cache of medical supplies, including antibiotics, injections, and bandages—items authorities suspect were intended to sustain insurgents operating within and beyond Nigeria’s borders.
The driver and three other occupants were arrested, with preliminary findings indicating the consignment was being moved towards the Republic of Chad through Geidam.
Security pressure also mounted in Borno State, where troops apprehended a suspected member of ISWAP/JAS in Ngamdu.
Military sources said the suspect admitted to being tasked with sourcing food supplies for insurgents and revealed ongoing regrouping efforts by fighters in the Gubio and Magumeri axis.
Further intelligence-led operations in Monguno led to the arrest of two individuals accused of aiding terrorist logistics, particularly in facilitating the movement of relatives linked to insurgent commanders.
Security operatives recovered mobile phones, cash, and other items during the operation, while a woman and her three children associated with a known terrorist figure were subsequently taken into custody.
In a separate operation, troops thwarted an attempted terrorist incursion in Askira Uba Local Government Area after engaging insurgents in a gun battle that forced them to retreat, abandoning weapons and supplies.
Follow-up operations in the area led to the rescue of three kidnapped victims from a nearby enclave.
Clearance operations in Bama also yielded results, as troops dismantled a terrorist camp, compelling fighters to withdraw under sustained military pressure.
Beyond the North-East, coordinated security actions extended to other parts of the country.
In Plateau State, troops under Operation Safe Haven recovered weapons during stop-and-search operations, while in Bauchi State, security forces arrested a suspected gunrunner and secured the release of additional abducted victims following intelligence gathered from earlier air operations.
In the Federal Capital Territory, troops engaged in anti-illegal mining enforcement raided a site in Gwagwalada, recovering equipment used for unlawful extraction activities, although suspects reportedly fled the scene.
Operations in the South-South also recorded progress. Troops under Operation Delta Safe intervened in a communal clash in Delta State, restoring order after a fatality was recorded. In Rivers State, intensified anti-bunkering efforts led to the destruction of illegal refining sites and the recovery of significant quantities of stolen crude oil and refined petroleum products.
Military authorities say the latest operations underscore a broader strategy aimed at cutting off supply chains, degrading insurgent capabilities, and reinforcing security presence across volatile regions.
