Member of the House of Representatives representing Oshodi/Isolo Federal Constituency II, Okey-Joe Onuakalusi, has said Nigeria is at a defining moment where discussions on nation-building, good governance, accountability and people-oriented leadership have become more important than ever.

Onuakalusi made the remark in a statement issued on Monday following his visit to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) secretariat alongside former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

According to the lawmaker, his presence at the event reflected his commitment to engaging with stakeholders concerned about the future of the country.

“Yesterday, I had the privilege of accompanying HE Peter Obi and HE Kwankwaso to the Nigeria Democratic Congress secretariat,” he said.

“Nigeria is at a defining moment, and conversations around nation-building, good governance, accountability, and people-oriented leadership have become more important than ever.

“My presence at the event reflects my continued commitment to engaging with stakeholders focused on the future of our country.”

Onuakalusi, however, stressed that his primary responsibility remains the people of Oshodi/Isolo Federal Constituency II.

“As always, my primary focus remains serving the good people of Oshodi/Isolo Federal Constituency II and contributing meaningfully to the advancement of our democracy and national development,” he stated.

He added that Nigerians must continue to work collectively for a better future.

“The task before us all is clear: to continue working towards a more just, united, and prosperous Nigeria that is possible,” he added.

The visit comes amid growing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general election, following the recent entry of Obi and Kwankwaso into the NDC.
