Why I’m no longer running – Mahmud Sadis Buba

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Mahmud Sadis Buba, has announced his withdrawal from the race for the Sabon Gari Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.

Buba disclosed this in a letter addressed to the Kaduna State Chairman of the APC on Saturday, saying the decision was taken in the interest of party unity and reconciliation within the ruling party.

He explained that ongoing reconciliation efforts by party leaders and stakeholders influenced his decision to step down from the contest.

According to him, the move followed extensive consultations with his family, political associates, and key stakeholders within the party, adding that rallying behind a single candidate had become necessary for the success of the APC in the election.

“This was not an easy decision. But it was hastened by the reconciliation efforts initiated by stakeholders and leaders of our party,” he stated.

“I believe that uniting behind a single candidate is paramount to our victory in the general election and for the continued progress of our constituency and state,” he added.

Buba expressed appreciation to Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, and the leadership of the APC in the state for giving him the opportunity to participate in the party’s nomination process.

He described the experience as enriching and thanked his supporters and constituents for standing by him throughout the political exercise.

“I want to thank the leader of our party, His Excellency Senator Uba Sani, CON, and the leadership of the party in Kaduna State for the opportunity to have participated in the nomination process,” he said.

The APC stalwart insisted that his withdrawal should not be interpreted as a sign of weakness, but rather a sacrifice aimed at strengthening the party ahead of the polls.

“My withdrawal is not a sign of weakness, but a sacrifice for the greater good of the party,” Buba stated, while reaffirming his loyalty and commitment to the APC.

He also pledged to work for the victory of the party’s consensus candidate and urged his supporters to remain peaceful, united, and supportive of the party’s decision.

“I ask my supporters to remain calm, united, and to throw their full weight behind the party’s decision and whoever emerges as the party’s candidate,” he added.

Buba’s withdrawal is expected to reshape the political contest within the Sabon Gari Federal Constituency as the APC intensifies efforts to consolidate internal unity ahead of the elections.
