The Lagos Waste Management Authority on Sunday said it had carried out a comprehensive clean-up and waste evacuation exercise around the NNS Beecroft axis in Apapa as part of preparations for the institution’s anniversary celebration.

In a statement issued by the Director of Public Affairs of LAWMA, Mukaila Sanusi, the agency said the sanitation exercise was aimed at maintaining environmental standards and improving cleanliness within the area.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of LAWMA, Muyiwa Gbadegesin, said the exercise reflected the authority’s commitment to cleaner public spaces and environmental sustainability across Lagos State.

According to him, the operation was carried out by LAWMA’s street sweeping and sanitation teams, focusing on the evacuation of accumulated waste, restoration of road medians, and improvement of environmental sanitation around the corridor.

He explained that the intervention was designed to eliminate refuse blackspots, improve the aesthetics of the area, and create a cleaner and healthier environment for residents, commuters, and visitors within the Apapa axis.

Gbadegesin further noted that LAWMA regularly supports public institutions, government agencies, military formations, markets, and other strategic facilities across the state through targeted sanitation and environmental support services.

He added that the authority would continue to collaborate with institutions and organisations to promote cleaner and more sustainable environments across Lagos State.

The LAWMA boss also reiterated the agency’s commitment to sustained environmental sanitation interventions across major public corridors and strategic locations in the state.
