The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has approved special waivers for former Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege, and former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Victor Ochei.

The party cleared them to contest the Delta Central and Delta North Senatorial seats respectively in the 2027 general elections under its platform.

The decision follows the formal defection of both politicians from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the NDC, marking a significant political realignment ahead of the next electoral cycle.

In a statement issued on Friday by Osa Director, NDC’s National Publicity Secretary, the party said it welcomed both leaders into its ranks, describing them as experienced politicians with strong grassroots connections and proven leadership records.

It added that the waivers were granted in recognition of their political backgrounds, leadership capacity, and commitment to democratic governance.

The NDC expressed confidence that both Omo-Agege and Ochei would strengthen the party’s electoral prospects in Delta State, noting that they possess the experience and support base required to deliver effective representation to their respective senatorial districts.

Reaffirming its internal processes, the party stressed its commitment to internal democracy, inclusiveness, and transparency, stating that it remains focused on building a stronger political structure capable of advancing development in Delta State and across Nigeria.
