The Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, has said his running for a second tenure is in the hands of God
Otti said this on Saturday at a grand civic reception/appreciation organised by the ‘Oha Isiala Ngwa People’ of Isiala Ngwa North and South Local Government Areas, in recognition and appreciation of his performance across the state, especially in Isiala Ngwa North and South Local Government Areas.
Amidst endorsements and calls for his re-election in 2027, Otti said he would consult with God before taking that decision.
While thanking the people for their endorsement, Otti said, “On the call to run in 2027, people will know my stand in 2027.
“We still have a long way to go. Just like 2023 was in the hands of God, 2027 will also be in the hands of God.
“So, while I thank you for this endorsement, and because I see it as an endorsement of what has been achieved so far, I also thank you for making predictions.
“I would only say that, I would go back and consult with my God.
” And as time goes on, my response will be made public. Because, like I said the other day, I know my people are waiting”.
Otti used the opportunity to explain that his administration’s deliberate investment in Aba is anchored on the potential Aba has in driving the economic growth of the State and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to achieving inclusive governance, adding that his government is working simultaneously in all parts of the State.
The governor also clarified that the location of Abia Airport in Nsulu was purely on technical merit and not political considerations and disclosed that all affected landowners have been fully compensated and described the Abia Airport project as “an ambitious undertaking, which is more than just an aviation facility, but a full-fledged development hub, aimed at providing long-term economic benefit to the people.
“We have paid 100% compensation to everybody whose land was affected. If there’s anyone that has not been paid, it is not our fault. Maybe they provided a wrong account number, or three or four people are struggling for the same space”, Otti said.
In their remarks, the lawmaker representing Isiala Ngwa North and South Federal Constituency, Okenze Chief Ginger Onwusibe, Sen. Darlington Nwokocha, member representing Isialangwa North State Constituency, Hon. Collins Iheonunekwu, the Chairman of the occasion, Mr. Obinna Anaba, another son of the soil, Mr. Cyril Ishmael, and the President of Ngwa National Association in USA and Canada, Dr. Ugochukwu Agu said Otti has done excellently well and urged him to seek re-election in 2027.
Otti, who is the leader of the Labour Party, LP in the state, used the opportunity to accept the member representing Isialangwa North State Constituency at the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Collins Iheonunekwu and his group who decamped from the Peoples Democratic Party into the LP, as well as the leadership of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW in the state led by their state chairman, Eze Job.
