The member of the Federal House of Representatives, Ife federal constituency, Taofeek Abimbola Ajilesoro, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party
(PDP).

Ajilesoro, in a letter he signed and addressed to the Chairman, Ilare Ward II, Ife Central Local Government Area of the state, claimed that his decision is hinged on the persistent and unsolvable problems of the opposition party.

In the letter dated July 22, 2025, the lawmaker thanked the platform for the platform it gave him to serve.

He wrote, “Please accept this letter as formal notification of my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party
(PDP), effective immediately.

“This decision, though difficult, has become necessary due to the persistent internal conflicts, deep-seated divisions, and the pervasive culture of legal disputes that have unfortunately come to characterize the party.

“These factors have made it increasingly challenging for me to reconcile my continued membership with my personal convictions and aspirations for effective governance.”

There have been several defections by notable politicians from the PDP in the state in recent times.
