Mrs Esther Chinyere Onyekesi, the mother of slain businessman and CEO of Fish Magnate Group, Martins Ifesinachi Onyekesi, has dismissed claims that the death of his son was political.
Speaking publicly since the death of her son, the Woman Leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), also stated that the Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo had no hands in Fish magnet’s death was rumoured in some corners.
The bereaved mother made the statement when she received members of Soludo support group, Geeks and Founders Alliance for Soludo (GEFAS), who were led on a condolence visit by Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata, the Coordinator.
Esther said there have been several attempts to kill the young entrepreneur, who was murdered last month.
Her words, “They waited for him while he was coming home, and as he alighted from his car to open the gate, they attacked him. I believe it was a targeted attack.”
She refuted allegations by activist, Martins Otse, aka VeryDarkMan, that Governor Chukwuma Soludo was responsible for the death of her son.
“Governor Soludo is not in anyway responsible for the death of my son. We all know that Anambra is now better in terms of security than Soludo met it.
“I have heard such remarks that the governor was responsible for my son’s death, but it’s all lies. Will Soludo come to every home to mount guard?
“In fact, I should even be thankful to the governor because that night when my son was taken, a lot of our party people heard it and were calling, and the governor also reached out to me and also connected me with the police commissioner in an attempt to get my son out.”
According to Esther, she is not willing to be used by some politicians to fight Soludo who has done wrong to her son or family.
“I have been visited by several persons, including politicians who want to turn the whole thing into politics. Some of them I see them, others I refuse to see them, but I have rejected every move to make it political.
“I have read news of people blaming the governor for it, but that is not true. I dare say that the governor is doing his best in security, and Anambra is better than what it used to be,” she said.
