Adeyanju reveals preference for Tinubu over Obi in 2027

Human rights activist Deji Adeyanju has made a bold statement, saying he would vote for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election if the opposition coalition, African Democratic Congress (ADC), decides to field Peter Obi as its candidate.

Adeyanju expressed this view on Channels Television’s Morning Brief on Friday, sparking controversy.

The activist’s comments come amid a heated feud with Obi, who recently threatened to sue Adeyanju over allegedly defamatory statements.

“God forbid that I support APC. If the opposition presents Peter Obi, I will vote for Tinubu,” he said

Adeyanju, however, remains unfazed, dismissing the notice and expressing eagerness to face Obi in court.

Adeyanju criticised Obi’s democratic credentials, questioning his sacrifices for Nigeria’s democratic survival.

He also condemned the behavior of some “Obidient” supporters, describing them as terrorising and intolerant of criticism.

Reflecting on his voting history, Adeyanju emphasized his commitment to supporting credible candidates. He cited his past votes for Olusegun Obasanjo in 1999, Goodluck Jonathan in 2011, and again in 2015, despite criticism from some quarters.

Adeyanju’s statement has ignited a fresh debate about political allegiances and the 2027 presidential election.
