A disturbing incident has unfolded in Ebonyi State, where a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Miss Daniela Onyinyechi Ekuma, was allegedly abducted by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) in the early hours of August 21, 2025.

According to her distraught parents who spoke to Sahara Reporters, Daniela had traveled from her NYSC camp in Ekiti State to Afikpo North, Ebonyi State, for her grandmother’s burial when the incident occurred.

At around 4 am, DSS operatives reportedly stormed the area, arrested Daniela, and took her to their Abakaliki office. Later, she was transferred to an unknown location, leaving her family in a state of panic and uncertainty.

“We don’t know her whereabouts, and we’ve made several efforts to find out where she was taken, but the DSS is not disclosing any information about her,” her parents lamented.

With Daniela set to resume at her NYSC place of assignment this September, her family is growing increasingly anxious about her safety and well-being.

The family is appealing for help in locating Daniela and securing her release. This incident raises serious concerns about the activities of security agencies in Nigeria and the need for greater accountability and transparency in their operations.
